Kiyès nou ye — Who we are

A bridge between the diaspora and home

We are the sons and daughters of Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite, united across borders by a single purpose: the lasting development of our hometown.

Our story

Haiti's quiet builders

CEDECOPRA — the Centre de Développement Communautaire de la Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite — belongs to a proud tradition: the Haitian hometown association. Wherever Haitians have settled, from New York to Montréal to Paris, they have organized around the towns that raised them.

Where public services fall short, the diaspora steps in — pooling resources, returning home, and investing in the health, education, faith, and dignity of the people of the Artibonite. That is who we are, and that is what we do.

Our approach

Permanent, not occasional

We don't just send help after a storm. We build institutions that stand — a hospital that heals, a school that trains the next generation of nurses, a radio station that informs, a church that gathers, and streets with names and homes with numbers, so that every family counts and every family can be found.

« L'union fait la force »

Unity makes strength — the motto of Haiti, and the way we work.

Misyon ak vizyon

Mission & vision

Our mission

To unite the diaspora of Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite and invest its strength in permanent institutions and essential services — in health, education, faith, and community life.

Our vision

A Petite Rivière where every family can reach care, every child can learn, every home has an address, and the diaspora's love is visible on every street.

How we work

From the diaspora, for the hometown

Our members live and work abroad — many in New York, where CEDECOPRA is incorporated — yet remain Petit-Riviérois at heart. We pool contributions, organize events, coordinate shipments, and travel home to see projects through.

Every initiative is chosen with the community, built with the community, and left in the hands of the community.

« Men anpil, chay pa lou. »

Many hands make the load light — the Haitian proverb at the heart of every hometown association.

« Dèyè mòn, gen mòn. »

Beyond the mountains, more mountains — the work of building never ends, and neither do we.
